The brief

Lewis Group is one of South Africa’s most established retailers of household furniture and electrical appliances with a number of well established brands. In 2017, the company decided to launch a new, online only brand that would sell quality home and kitchenware via digital channels only.

Lima Bean was approached to work with Lewis Group to develop the INspire brand and build out the systems to facilitate this new digital only business.

What we did

We worked closely with the Lewis Group executives to understand the brand, positioning and target market, rapidly developing clickable prototypes to test and validate assumptions. Extensive collaboration with Red Panda, the company that provides backend POS systems to Lewis Group, was required,.

With INspire being a predominantly credit based business, the system had significantly more complexity than your average e-commerce store, with a number of workflows that had to be mapped and developed, as well as requiring extensive integration with Red Panda and other 3rd party APIs.

The result

INspire achieved sales of in excess of R 27 million in the first 10 months since launch. Lima Bean continues to be heavily involved in the brand, looking after not only the technology, but guiding the digital strategy and implementing the online marketing.
